Some time ago I was working helpdesk for a giant global evil mega-corp.
It was a fairly standard evening, nothing unusual until I got a call from the one of the storage guys. He was freaking out, yelling about something or other so I convened a crisis call so he could yell to people who knew what he was talking about.
Shortly after that call the phones lit up. 100+ calls in queue, emails coming in constantly. Applications were failing, extranets were failing, just about everything that could go down dropped all at once.
Turns out both SAN fabrics went down at the same time for completely different reasons. About 6 hours later we had the problem resolved, but to this day I cringe every time I hear "storage failure"
